Last month, we shared that we’ve backed DoubleZero — a first-of-its-kind N1 protocol (a base layer of neutral and performant physical infrastructure) designed to meet the bandwidth and latency demands of distributed systems like Solana.
Today, we’re proud to announce a significant step in bringing that vision to life: a RockawayX physical Point of Presence (PoP) for a private wavelength line connecting Frankfurt, Germany, and our home base in Prague has been installed.
This is more than hardware, cable deployment, and software configuration. It’s the beginning of a high-performance transport layer that will reshape how blockchains scale without compromises.
Why Frankfurt Matters
Frankfurt is one of Europe’s most important connectivity hubs. It sits at the heart of the continent’s internet backbone, home to major data centers, Deutsche Börse, and other financial institutions, so it is natural that blockchain operators also have their nodes there. For DoubleZero, this location an essential strategic hub for Europe.
Low-latency fiber placed in Frankfurt brings the protocol closer to the validators and operators that need it most.
Turning Theory into Throughput
DoubleZero is highlighted by three key innovations:
- Duplicate transactions (spam) before entering the inner circle (dedup)
- Wire-speed verification of transactions (sigverify)
- Private bandwidth without roadblocks or congestion
As this deployment comes and the whole DoubleZero network eventually goes to mainnet, we expect to see measurable improvements in latency and block size for central European operators.
What Comes Next
With this first baby step in Europe complete, we’re working to scale further across key validator regions and unlock performance gains for high-throughput chains everywhere.
Our next in-hand task is building a 100G great northeast circuit connecting Frankfurt, Prague, Warsaw, Šiauliai, Stockholm, and Oslo.
And still, this is just the beginning.
