The Role
We are hiring a sharp and well-connected DeFi business development associate who will source and develop priority relationships with ecosystems and projects. You will represent RockawayX’s DeFi arm externally, communicating clearly on the firm’s capabilities across its liquidity, product co-development, and on-chain market making services. You will identify, structure, and close high-value commercial opportunities, where our capital, infrastructure, and services can support leading protocols and platforms.
We’re already big in DeFi and looking to scale the advantage - staying ahead of every development in the space and ensuring we partner with the best and fastest-growing protocols.
The role is external facing, and will operate across business development (proactive outreach), marketing, product, and ongoing relationship management.
This is a high-impact role for someone who is deeply immersed in DeFi and has an eye for alpha. You are commercially savvy, and eager to make deals on the front lines of a fast-evolving industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Ecosystem Management: Identify, initiate, and manage relationships with top DeFi protocols, L1 / L2 foundations, emerging platforms, distribution partners (i.e. treasury management firms, venture firms), DAOs, and on-chain capital allocators.
- BD Origination & Deal Structuring: Identify and structure unique partnership deals, focussing on liquidity incentives or token-based agreements that are mutually-beneficial. …Your brain is always in “activation” mode - when you connect with a fast-growing protocol or platform, you take stock of its traction and roadmap against our capabilities and stand up win-win deals that aren’t “on the market”. Partnerships include: liquidity provisioning, vault bootstrapping or curation, solver services, locked token purchase, product collaborations, and more.
- Fundraising Contribution: Partner with others on team to develop Credit Fund fundraising strategy by overseeing distribution to crypto-native entities (i.e. project treasuries), managing those processes from start to finish (i.e. prepare targeted marketing materials, prospecting, due diligence, ongoing client reporting.)
- Representing Firm & Intel Gathering: Represent RockawayX at conferences, side events, and online communities to build trust and brand visibility around our DeFi expertise. Stay on top of the latest DeFi trends (DEX architecture, swaps and bridges, MEV, LRTs, stablecoins, etc) to help shape product strategy.
- Cross-Functional: Collaborate with teammates across divisions (i.e. content, marketing, research, engineering, product, venture) to track and evaluate DeFi opportunities and execute on commercial deals.
Requirements
- Over 3 years’ experience working in DeFi in a product, research, or growth function
- Strong understanding of DeFi primitives and products, ecosystem maps, and current trends and, ideally, existing relationships across crypto ecosystems to leverage
- Highly self-motivated, entrepreneurial & commercial mindset
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with an ability to pitch nuanced services to projects leads and technical teams
